The Starlight Six

We had another busy weekend and we were again blessed with perfect fall weather for all our activities.

Saturday morning we had to divide and conquer. Raphael helped to coach Rebecca's soccer game and I drove to Vinings, GA to run a Chick-fil-A 10K.  A couple of months ago, I filled out a survey from Chick-fil-A and I ended up winning a free entry to a race!
I was hoping to finish in under an hour and I did. My time was 56:45 and I came in third for my age group :)

I drove home and took a quick shower and by then Rebecca was home and we went to a birthday party for her friend Isabella. Her birthday party was a Candyland theme, so all the kids were in candy heaven! Rebecca was stuffing her pockets with candy. I was too busy talking and eating candy to take many pictures, but it was a fun party.

I have been wanting to take the girls to see a movie at a drive-in movie theater for awhile, so we decided to give it a try on Saturday night.  We told the girls we were going to see "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2." We didn't tell them we were going to a drive- in and Rachel was pretty excited when we drove up.

We took Rachel's best friend, Daniella, with us and they got all comfy in the back of our car.
Rebecca had a good time and she was pretty well behaved. The movie didn't start until 8:30 and by the time we got home it was after 11, so the girls were tired and there was some crying.
                                                                A blurry picture of us.
The best we could get with the darkness and a nine year old photographer.

The drive-in was much busier than I expected. Lots of families and people having a good time. I am glad we took the girls and hope to go back again with them next summer.

*** my blog got a little makeover last week. A big THANK YOU to Jennisa at Pixel Me Perfect for the new look***

Photos from my Phone Friday

We have had a good week and I am looking forward to the weekend.
The park where Rebecca has soccer was having a fun day.
Lots of different activities and events for the kids to do. The girls both ended up with crazy hair!
A lake picture from my long run on Sunday morning.
I had to run fifteen miles and it helps me when the scenery is so pretty.
On Sunday we skipped church and went to see the Falcons play football. Raphael had free tickets from work, so we left the girls with a sitter and watched the game. The Falcons won!!
I was looking through pictures for a project that Rebecca needed for school, and I came across a photo of Raphael and I from our anniversary two years ago. Sometime I get discouraged with myself and feel like I haven't made much progress in losing weight/getting in better shape. A picture is a good reminder of what I have managed to accomplish.
On Monday I went to school and had lunch with my favorite 4th grader!

Happy Friday!

Can't Stop Singing

Yesterday I took Rebecca downtown to see a Sesame Street show. Raphael was able to get some tickets for free from work, so Rebecca and I met our friends for the show.
                                                                   Gigi, Rebecca and Gabby
The show was at Philips Arena and it was our first visit there. We were in the middle section, but it is really hard to get a decent picture with the bright stage lights. The show was all about music and singing.

During the intermission we had to get cotton candy.
Rebecca is not a huge Sesame Street watcher, but she liked the show and was up dancing and singing along with the other kids.

Across the street from the Arena is a new ferriswheel. Rebecca wanted to take a ride, but each person is $15, so I decided to skip it today.
By the time I drove out of the parking garage, she was asleep.

Photos from my Phone Friday

This week has pretty much zoomed by.
I didn't take too many pictures, but we kept busy with school, sports and church events.
This is the bridge we took our paddle boat to last weekend at Fort Yargo. A beautiful day on the lake.
Rebecca on the waterslide. She had so much fun!
It has been nice and hot here lately.
The girls set up a lemonade stand.
Each year on September 11th, the MOMS Club that I am a part of  bakes cookies and other treats for the local fire and police stations. This year I was in charge of coordinating the event and it went well.
These are not treats I made, but my friend Hannah got all fancy with hers.
And we spent time at the soccer fields.

Super Busy and Super Fun Weekend

We had a wonderful weekend- perfect weather and lots of fun too.
Friday morning I went with my friend, Lisa, to the Yellow Daisy Festival at Stone Mountain. It is a huge arts and crafts type of event. I have always wanted to go and finally got the chance. There were tons of booths and so many things to look at. I did buy a few things for the girls.
A cute chevron dress for Rebecca and an outfit for Rachel's American Girl doll. I also bought the softest little blanket for Rebecca. I love the purple and yellow colors.
Saturday morning we were at the soccer fields bright and early for Rebecca's first soccer game. She is on an all girls team and it is entertaining to watch them running around. Rebecca is # 44.
After soccer we came home to change and we headed to Fort Yargo for a little swimming.
The girls tried so many times to get into the floatie together, but tipped over each time. They had the best time together. Rachel has always wanted to rent a paddle boat, so after lunch we rented a boat for awhile. It was fun to paddle around, but a lot of work!
We went to check out a bridge. I took a picture, but my phone and computer are not talking to each other and lots of pics are stuck in my phone :(   The girls loved the little boat.
After the lake we headed back home to get ready for a dinner out. Raphael and I celebrated our 14th anniversary on Wednesday, so we went to Atlanta for dinner for a date night!
Our nice valet guy took this picture for us.
We went early church today, so we could go to swim at our friends pool. They recently moved and their neighborhood pool has a slide. The kids had the best time! Rebecca went on the slide a hundred times I think.
After the pool we were supposed to go to the first night of children's choir, but we were tired and cranky, so we came home and took it easy. We managed to pack a lot into a few days!

First Day of Preschool 2013

Rebecca headed off to preschool yesterday!
It is her last year of preschool, which I can't quite comprehend how that is even possible?
She was excited to go see her friends and teacher. I think it will be a great year for her.

Her teacher gave each student a little book to read the night before preschool started. Monday night, we read the book and it had special stars to sprinkle under the pillow for sweet dreams. Rebecca thought it was the best thing ever and she went right to sleep!
Carefully placing the stars.
And yes, snowman sheets in September--super classy :)
Over Labor Day weekend, we finally bought a bigger bed for Rebecca. She was so happy to have a "big girl bed". I had to sneak in and take a picture of her.
And a few pictures from the Labor Day weekend.
Rachel went to her friend Lauren's birthday party at Menchies yogurt shop.
Rebecca and I met friends at Mayfield Dairy for ice cream treats.
Rachel and I ran some errands and got caught in a major rainstorm!
Raphael took the girls swimming for the last time.
I feel like this picture sums up our life around here most days- crazy and chaotic.
