Trick or Treat- Halloween 2012

The girls had a fun night trick or treating for Halloween.
We met up with Rachel's best friend, Daniella, and walked the neighborhood together.

                                                                   Daniella and Rachel.
Rachel was supposed to be Merida from the movie Brave.
Rebecca was a Fifties Girl. She loved her poodle skirt and looked pretty cute too.
The girls had a great time and got so much candy! This was Rebecca's first year to trick or treat and she loved it. I took the stroller, but she insisted on walking most of the night.
This house had great decorations and they handed out hot apple cider, water and hot dogs to everyone. They were the most popular house on the block.
Rebecca finally gave in and took a ride in the stroller and enjoyed some candy :)

Our Week in Pictures

We had a busy week and it seemed to be filled with visits to the doctor. We made four trips to different doctors for one reason or another. It feels like we have spent a small fortune in co-pays and prescriptions this week.
Both of the girls are doing childrens choir this year and on Sunday the older kids sang at two church services. Rachel isn't too thrilled about choir, but I am hoping she warms up to it. All the kids did a good job and they have a big performance right before Thanksgiving.
Rachel wanted to go somewhere "special" for a treat after singing, so I took her to Starbucks for a hot chocolate and brownie.
Wednesday was wacky and tacky night at AWANA, so Rachel wore this silly hat and two kinds of shoes. Rebecca wasn't interested in participating in the dress up thing.
Lately, all Rebecca wants to do is play with Little Pet Shop toys or little dolls. She made some sort of city this morning and covered it with blankets. Later I found her buried under every blanket she could find.
I am on the social committee in our neighborhood and had to help pass out fliers for an upcoming event. I pushed Rebecca in the stroller and delivered the papers. Rebecca decided to take advantage of the beautiful fall day and take a little cat nap in her stroller.
Tonight is our Friday night Family movie night and we are watching Madagascar 3. We bought the DVD at Costco and it came with this crazy wig!

Cutest Pumpkins in the Patch

We took a trip to Washington Farms pumpkin patch on Saturday.
It was a perfect fall day and the Farm had so many activities for the kids to do. We spent a few hours there and Rachel kept saying "this is the best place ever!".
The girls did a little hay bale maze and we also did the traditional corn maze. I picked the short maze and it only took us about five minutes to find our way out.
A little time in the corn box ,but it was a bit crazy in there, so the girls didn't last too long.
                                                                         The cow train.
Rebecca wasn't too happy to have her picture in the big rocking chair.
We took a hay ride to the pumpkin patch.
The last time we were at Washington Farms for pumpkins, Rachel was two years old!
                                                                          The three of us.

Under The Weather

It has been a little crazy around here lately and I feel a bit out of sorts. I would like to blame it on Rachel's school schedule. Last week on Monday and Tuesday it was early out days for parent-teacher conferences, then back to regular time.  But with Rachel staying late on Thursday for after school club. Followed up by a busy and long weekend because there was no school on Monday-thank you Christopher Columbus! I took the girls to Chuck E Cheese for a while on Monday to pass some time.

I had noticed on Monday that Rebecca had a little runny/stuffy nose and occassional cough. By the time she woke up Tuesday, she had a nasty cold and was really miserable. So I kept her home from preschool and  took her in to see the doctor because she was complaining that she couldn't hear. Ended up she had an ear infection and needed antibiotics.
A little reading at the doctor's office.
Our doctor's office has these books in the waiting room. Every time I see them it reminds me of my doctor's office when I was little because they had those same books.
Today was Rachel's eight year check up. Thankfully, Rebecca was much better and went to preschool and then I went to pick up Rachel. Her appointment went pretty well, but her lungs were really wheezy, so the doctor wanted her to stay home for the rest of the day and take it easy and do some breathing treatments at home. And then it was time for her flu shot- it was not good. Rachel freaked out BIG time-crying,screaming, trying to get away. It took awhile and three of us to hold her enough to give the shot.
                                                        Modeling her beautiful gown :)
After the trauma of the doctor office, Rachel wanted Sonic for lunch and that seemed to help her feel better. We picked Rebecca up from preschool and came home to take it easy.

I got the girls to bed early and I am praying for a good nights sleep for everyone and a better day tomorrow. Looking forward to the weekend!

Weekend Update

We have had a beautiful fall weekend and yesterday I took the girls to a historical house in our town. The house is around two hundred years old and each year they have a festival and give tours and show what life was like back in the old days.
                                                                  The Elisha Winn house
There were lots of  beautiful quilts on display and Rachel loved this one with the ladies.
There were several men dressed up as soldiers and explained how the cannons worked and shot off a couple of shots. It was SO loud and the girls thought it was funny.
While we were at the festival, Raphael was serving at our church's annual day of community service- they call it CIA (compassion in action). This year Raphael helped with a carnival for a nearby apartment complex.

Everyone met at the church for worship and prayer first.
Hundreds of balloons were released with a message from our church and then it was time to serve.
                                                                  Carlos and Raphael

And the big news of Saturday was Raphael's birthday!
We kind of did things in reverse order- first opened presents, then cake with ice cream and finally we grilled steaks for dinner. It was a good day!

Today we went to church and then this evening the girls wanted to roast marshmallow and make smores, so we did.

Rebecca and I picked these flowers from our garden this weekend. We planted the seeds in May and they have been blooming for a few months now and I love them!

And a big "thank you" to Jenissa at Once Upon a Blog Design shoppe for giving my blog a little makeover.
