PDQ + The Farm + Augusta

We had a good and pretty busy weekend.  On Saturday, Rachel and Rebecca both had games. I took Rachel to tennis, watched Rebecca's soccer game and then back to get Rachel. We went home to change and then to church for the Fall Festival.  It was fun, but super windy and the girls are getting older.... I think maybe it was our last year to go.  We met my parents to see a movie and went home to go to bed!

Sunday, we went to church and then I decided we were going to go on a little Sunday afternoon car ride. I had heard about a restaurant called PDQ and I wanted to check it out. The nearest PDQ is in Evans GA ( which is just outside of Augusta, GA).I googled and found a pumpkin patch/dairy farm nearby and decided we would make a day of it.

We all agreed that the chicken was good!! It is probably a good thing

that PDQ is far away or I could go there a lot. PDQ stands for

"people dedicated to quality".

Then we drove to Steed's Dairy Farm for some fun.

Steeds used to be just a dairy farm, but over the years they have expanded and

at fall time they do the corn maze/pumpkin patch/hayride kind of thing.

It was very similar to Washington Farms, but smaller and less people.

We learned how they milk cows these days--interesting.

We all tried our luck at the corn cannon.

We briefly wandered through the corn maze. It was pretty

beat up and I am not a huge fan of the corn maze.

We took the mandatory hay ride and the girls also did a little zip line.

After the farm, I checked the map and we were about 15 minutes from Augusta.

I don't know a lot about the town, but I knew there is a river walk area, so I

decided we needed to go take a look.  We have never been to Augusta, and I

wasn't sure if we would be back, so I tried to make the most of the opportunity.

The Savannah River

Augusta has a long history. We learned it was founded in 1735 by the

British. They they used the river for transportation and trading goods.

We were able to see Saint Paul's Church. It was the first church in

Augusta and founded in 1750. The cemetery has many famous

people buried in it. Some of the gravestones had dates

from 1815 and older.

It was a good weekend and a good day!

Girls Trip to Tennessee

Last week, the girls were out of school on Monday for Columbus Day, so we decided to take a girls only weekend and drive up to Tennessee. Last time we were in TN, the girls were so little, so it was good to be back for another visit.

We made it to Chattanooga on Saturday afternoon and decided to walk around the downtown

area by our hotel.

We wandered down by the aquarium and river front area. There are tons

of sculptures around town and lots of places to explore.

The Moon Pie store was right around the corner from our hotel, so

we had to go in and buy a pie.

Sunday morning I got up early to run and explore the city a little bit.

One of my favorite things to do in a new place is to get out and run,

especially early before all the people are out and about.

I ran the winding staircase. So many great places right by the river.

Sunday we started at the aquarium.

Then we walked across the Walnut Bridge and had lunch.

On the other side of the bridge there are two parks and we checked them both out.

The water fountains at Coolidge Park and we rode the carousel.

We made a stop at a famous ice cream store Clumpies on the way to

the second park. The line for ice cream was long, but so worth it.

I have a friend that had told me about "cardboard sledding"

at a park in Chattanooga and I had read about it too, so I was

determined to find the sledding hill. We found the park

 and had a great time sledding. I took videos that won't work,

 so just take my word for it :).

We walked back to the hotel and the girls were ready to swim.

I was ready to rest my feet. We managed to pack a lot into the

first day.

Monday we started at Ruby Falls. It is a water fall that is

inside of a cavern. We took an elevator down and then walked quite

a while and finally saw the waterfall.

The girls and I climbed to the top of the tower and took in the

view of Chattanooga.

Next was Rock City!

At Rock City we followed lots of trails.

We wanted to climb to the top and see the view. From the top,

you are able to see seven states all at once.

Lovers Leap and waterfall.

Rainbow Walk. Rock City was an interesting place to visit and

then it was time to go home!

It was a great weekend with the girls.

It's October! I was at Costco last week and they have Halloween stuff and Christmas décor out already! My brain just can't think that far ahead :).  Anyways, a few pictures of our going ons.......

Raphael's birthday was yesterday!

We had my parents over and had some cake and ice cream.

It was a nice little get together to celebrate Raphael.

Yesterday was 60s and 70s dress up day for Rebecca at school.

This picture came up on my Facebook memory the other day.

Hard to believe she was ever this little.

Snapchat filters! We usually check out the filters while we wait

in the car rider line before school starts.

We all went to see the Atlanta Braves play a game last weekend.

They are building a new baseball stadium, so we went to the second to

last game on Saturday night.

At church right now we are doing "At the movies" series and there

are always movie characters wandering around for a photo op.

And we are still in soccer season. Last weekend, Rebecca was goalie

and she also scored a goal. It's fun to watch the girls and see they are getting better.

All of us ladies are heading up to Chattanooga TN for a girls weekend.

Hope it will be a lot of fun !
