Alphabet Summer- Letter F

Summer is winding down here- only three weeks of summer left! Rachel has been asking to go to the mall and play in the fountains, so that is what we did this morning.

There weren't too many other kids there which was nice. Sometimes it gets a little crazy.

Fun morning at the fountains with the girls. We are having a busy week and getting ready to head to the beach soon!

Alphabet Summer -Letter H

On Sunday we skipped church and drove up to a little town called Helen. The entire town looks like a German village.

Helen is a tourist type of town and has lots of little shops and restaurants. There are several national parks with waterfalls and hiking and the Chattahoochee River.  During the summer it is popular to float in an inner tube down the river, so that is how we started our day.
I wanted to try floating the river last summer, but we ran out of time. So I was excited for us to give it a try this summer. We went with the Cool River Tubing Company.
They had hundreds of inner tubes! Lots and lots of people float the river each summer. We grabbed a tube and headed to the bus that takes everyone to the river.

We had three tubes- Rachel and I had our own and we were tied together. Raphael and Rebecca were together on a tube. The water was cold, but felt really good because it was a hot day.

The girls loved it. Rachel and I did manage to float into just about every big rock there was. And twice we flipped out of our tubes. Rebecca did jump out a few times- thank goodness for life jackets!

We stopped and let the girls play in the water for awhile.

                                                              We made it!
We took the "short trip" which was about an hour and half.
After floating we went for lunch and then walked around town. We had ice cream in a cute little shop and the tables had little kids shoes on the bottoms of the chairs.
A few other pictures of the town.

We had a great day in Helen.
Hope we can go floating again next summer.

Baseball Tonight

Friday night our friends invited us to go to a baseball game. There were three families with eight kids total, so it was a little bit crazy at times! The bigger kids sat at one end of the row and then the parents were scattered throughout.

I love going to baseball games. I didn't really watch much of the game because I was busy talking, eating or helping Rebecca with something, but still had a fun evening out.
Our friends that invited us-Naomi and Delrika.
Then me and Rapahel.
I didn't get a photo of Sam and Julie, but they were there too.
And no photos of the kids really. I tried, but it wasn't meant to be.
The field is designed with regular seats or seating out on the grass. In the grassy area are games and bounce houses for the kids, so of course I had to take the girls for awhile.

I was telling my friend that last time we were at a Gwinnett Braves game, Rebecca was three months old and now she is three years old! Time is zipping by!

Our days have been really hot, but it turned out to be a nice evening and we had a great time.
Since it was so close to Fourth of July, after the game there were fireworks. They were amazing! We decided next year the baseball game is the place to go for the Fourth!

I decided to include our night of baseball as part of alphabet summer. I had no idea what to do for letter G--and the Gwinnett Braves seems to work nicely!

Alphabet Summer- Letter S

Slowly, but surely we are making our way through the alphabet summer idea.
A couple of days ago we met up with some friends at the Sprinkler park. We went there a few times last summer and it was fun.

The sprinkler park gave me a good opportunity to use my water camera.

Some of our friends- Lukas,Jakob,Cameron, Ronnie, Rachel and Rebecca.
Watching the girls play in the water reminded me of my summer days- playing with my sister and neighbor friends in the sprinkler and plastic pools in the driveway. Hoping our girls will have good memories of their summers.

Alphabet Summer- Letters W,Y and Z

Our summer is flying by! I can't believe that in one month Rachel will back to school! The time is going by so fast that I am not sure if we can pull off this Alphabet Summer idea or not.

This week, we have managed to knock off a few more letters. And we did three in one day!

For letter W we went out to the backyard for a water balloon fight. It has been really hot here lately. So I thought water balloons would be fun. It took me forever to fill up the balloons, but the girls had fun running around and throwing them at me.
We ran out of balloons pretty quick and switched over to spray bottles and we had a pretty good time squirting each other.
I didn't have too many ideas for the letter Z besides going to the zoo. And it has been way too hot to go to the zoo, so I decided to go with Zoopals paper plates for lunch. Rebecca loved the plates and used about ten of them.  After lunch we made our own animal plates.

We made a turtle, pig and a ladybug.
For letter Y we finished the afternoon with a trip to Froyolo for a frozen yogurt treat.
The girls love going there and it is decorated so cute!

I have lots of pictures of Rebecca. Rachel wasn't in the mood for pictures :)
                                                       And that was our day.

Alphabet Summer- Letter C

This past Saturday the girls and I set up our tent to for a backyard campout. Last summer Rachel and I camped in the yard and it was a lot of fun.
My little helpers! Raphael was in Panama, so we had to get the tent set up by ourselves. I knew that we could do it and we did.
We ended up not being able to camp Saturday night because of a thunder storm, so we tried it again on Sunday evening.
Per Rachel's request, we roasted hot dogs for dinner and then smores for dessert. The girls had so much fun playing in the tent and going in and out. Rachel settled down and did a little reading.
  Bedtime!
It started raining not longer after we went to bed and I was worried the tent might leak, but it never did.  I loved listening to the rain and hearing all the nighttime sounds. Unfortunately, Rebecca decided that she didn't want to sleep in the tent :)  So, we packed up and headed inside for the night.
It was fun while it lasted!

Letters we have done already M, T and I.
