Peachtree Road Race 2016

Last year, I ran the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta for the first time. It was a crazy race due to the rain and weather delay, so I decided to run it again.
I learned last year, that the Race is a lot of "hurry up and wait."
This year, I rode with my friends Jamie, Mary and Candy. Jamie's boyfriend
drove us, so we were able to skip the MARTA ride which was great!
All the ladies!
Before the race and ready to go.
We waited for our wave to start running and did a lot of
people watching.
I tried to get a few pictures while I was running along.
There are so many people out to cheer on the runners.
Many of the churches and businesses on the route provide water.
This is one of the most popular and well known pit stops.
The church sprays holy water and a priest will sprinkle you
with the water too.
Crazy guys!
There is a huge assortment of people, all shapes and sizes, and
so many dressed up in red, white and blue.
It was a typical July morning- hot and humid. I stopped at
each water station to stay hydrated.
Finish line!!
The Race ends at Piedmont Park and then you walk to get your
Race t-shirt.
I had a much better time than last year. I finished with a
time of 1:11:47.
At home and in my shirt!
Glad I was able to go, it is a fun race for sure.

The Sun Dial

On the last night of our sister-in-law's visit we all went out for dinner
at the Sun Dial Restaurant.  It is located on the top floor of the Westin Hotel and
it did not disappoint. The view was beautiful and the food was amazing!!
We got to the restaurant a little before Raphael, so we walked around the
observation area and checked out the views.

The restaurant rotates very slowly, so we had a changing view as
the evening went on.
Good food and delicious peach lemonade !
We were able to see a beautiful sunset and then Atlanta at night.
After dinner, we walked the observation area again.
There were touch screen monitors that tell you what building or
landmark you see when looking out the window.
Jeanny and Amy
It was a wonderful night and we will be back to the Sun Dial again!

Photos from My Phone

As usual, I am behind with all the blogging. We have been on the go a lot the past few weeks. So, before I forget, a few pictures of where we have been................................

I made the girls watch "Finding Nemo" with me and then the
next day we went to see " Finding Dory". I really liked it.
We celebrated Father's Day. We went to church for Papa Palooza and then
a big lunch for Raphael and my Dad. It was great to have my Dad here.
Summer reading at the library.
I took the girls to the park to play in the streams and cool off.
Rebecca had SonShine camp each morning at 9, but Rachel didn't go to
tennis until 10, so we went for breakfast at the Waffle House.
We had our house painted !!
I hosted a little party for my MOMS club friends.
Hanging out at Nana and Papa's house and enjoying late summer nights.
Cleaning out all the junk from the bedrooms!
I paid Rachel for every stuffed animal she gave away :)
I tried the spin class at the gym and lived to tell about it.

We try to get in as many days at possible at the pool !

Fourth of July 2016

We had a fun and busy Fourth of July weekend ! We were kind of all over the place with activities and managed to pack in a lot of fun.  On Saturday, we went to our friends' neighborhood for a big pool party and fireworks show.
The girls swam forever and Rebecca went down the waterslide a hundred times.
It is fun to see her being more advanced with her swimming skills. All the swim
lessons are paying off --- thank you Tia Ivy !!
We enjoyed the fireworks and were possibly a little too close to the action.
Some of the fireworks went a little crazy and we needed to back it up for
safety reasons :)

On Sunday, we went to church and then later in the evening, the girls had
a water balloon fight and we roasted marsh
mellows and had s'mores.
Filling up the balloons. This is the way to go, it fills a bunch all at once.
A rain storm came along, so we ended up under the deck and then
had to move inside, but still was a good night.
I was up early on the Fourth to meet with some friends to go to Atlanta
and run the Peachtree Road Race 10k.
Me, Jamie, Mary and Candy
It was a much better experience this summer, than last. I plan to blog about it soon.
I was happy with my finish time and got home for a quick shower and tried on
my Race shirt.
We celebrated with my parents and a lot of good food for lunch. It was kind of quick because we
were heading to Stone Mountain for fireworks.
                                                                Nana, Papa and the girls.
Stone Mountain puts on a big Fourth of July show. We thought it
would be the best, especially for Amy to see. The park was crazy
busy, sooo many people!
Just a few thousand people!
While we waited for darkness, we went to the Sky Hike area. The big kids,
did the Hike and Rebecca did the little kids area. And we gave the rock
climbing wall a try too.

Finally , it was dark enough and the laser and firework show started.
It is super hard to get a good picture, so this is what I went for.
We loved the show and the fireworks are amazing. Totally worth all
the hassle and fuss to get there. We battled the crowds and traffic and finally
made it home and to bed way past midnight.
It was a fun weekend. And forever grateful for our country and our freedoms.
