Seven Months Old!!

Today Rebecca is seven months old! I am amazed everyday at how quickly the time goes by. She will be a year old before we know it.  Rebecca and I ran some errands this morning, had lunch at Subway, and then home to get out of the rainy day we are having.  I tried to get some photos of her, but she doesn't want to sit still!

This was from this morning- a little cracker snack before we went out. She enjoys feeding herself and makes quite a mess. Rebecca loves to eat! She is eating more and more everyday. So far she has had sweet potatoes, avocado, bananas, oatmeal, carrots, greenbeans, pears, and applesauce.

Sitting in her rocking chair.
This was an outfit of Rachel's that I just loved! It is so cute, and this picture doesn't really do it justice. I wanted to make sure Rebecca was able to wear it at least once before she outgrew it.

Rebecca is starting to pull herself up on anything she can find. She is so proud of herself. Rebecca is crawling everywhere and getting into everything. She is curious and wants to check out her surroundings.
We love you Rebecca!

Pumpkins and the Park

Last week the girls and I went to a pumpkin patch, and we ended up coming home with several pumpkins.  I decided that carving and scraping out the pumpkins would be too messy, so Rachel and I painted them instead.  Rachel had a great time and she did a good job.  I painted a little one for Rebecca and put polka dots on it.   Rachel thought a "before" and "after" photo would be a good idea.

Today was another beautiful fall day and I took the girls to the park.  We had fun~ Rachel and I played tag and hide & seek. She climbed all over the place, and I decided to put Rebecca in the baby swing. It was her first time ever being in a swing and she was a little stunned- didn't know what to do with herself.

Apple Picking & Special Day for Rachel

On Saturday, we took the girls for a visit to an apple orchard. It was in Ellijay, in the Georgia "mountains",and about an hour and half away. We did get stuck in traffic due a moonshine festival (only in the South!)going on in Dawsonville, but thanks to our GPS lady, we made our way around.  It was a cold and windy day, so we were all bundle up, especially Rebecca. She looked cute and didn't seem to mind the weather. Rachel had a great time- apple picking, petting farm, John Deere bike riding, thought about milking a cow, sliding at the playground, and taking a wagon ride.

On Sunday afternoon, we went to a special event at Rachel's school.  She is in a brand new school building, and they held the school dedication on Sunday. One kindergarten child from each class was chosen to help lead the audience in the pledge of allegiance. Rachel was chosen from her class, and she was so excited to be there.  She and the other kids did a great job. We were so proud of her, we took lots of pictures and video taped it all.

Pumpkin Patch

This afternoon was a beautiful fall day,so I decided to take the girls to a pumpkin patch. I took them to a nearby church that has an area set up with lots of pumpkins, games for the kids, and bakery items to buy. Rachel was so excited to go, and Rebecca seemed to have a good time too.  Rachel took a wagon and started loading it up. We ended up with two pumpkins and some little mini ones. I tried to get some photos of the girls, but they weren't really into the photo shoot.

Yesterday was a special day for Rachel- she had two exciting events. First, at school the parents were invited to come to the class for an awards presentation. Last week was report card day, and all the kids who earned satisfactory or excellents got a special certificate from the principal. Miss Rachel received two awards and a shiny new hot pink pencil. Rebecca and I went for the event, and Rachel was so excited to have us there. She could barely contain her excitement.  We are really proud of her for doing so well at school.  Then last night was "bring a friend" night at AWANA. So Rachel wanted to bring along her friend Sydney. They were  so cute together and had a great time.

Speed Racer

A few weeks ago, my wonderful husband had a birthday. Raphael turned the big 4-0! I really wanted to get him a memorable gift from me and girls. I ended up getting him a session at the Richard Petty Driving Experience at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  This past Saturday was the big day. He went for the afternoon and had a great time. His fastest lap time was 140mph! The girls and I are glad he had fun, and thankful that he came back to us in one piece.

Yesterday afternoon Raphael and Rachel went to the park for a little father- daughter time. Rebecca was taking a much needed nap. After she woke up, we went outside for a quick photo shoot. I found this cute sweater and hat at a consignment store for only $3! I wanted to get a picture of her in it. It was a cold and windy day, and she was not in the mood for picture taking. So a little photo of her in all her cuteness.

Checkups and A Bathing Beauty

This week both of the girls went to the doctor for checkups. Rebecca went on Tuesday for her six month visit. Her doctor said she is doing well- she had to get some shots and was none too happy about that. Today was Rachel's turn for her yearly checkup. I picked her up early from school to make sure we would be there on time. Of course, the office was running late and we had to wait almost an hour! Rachel did great, passed her vision and hearing tests. Her weight and height are all normal and no shots! The nurse did have to prick her finger to check for iron level, and Rachel shed a few tears over it. She recovered nicely and was able to visit the "treasure box" on the way out for a special prize. We went to McDonalds for dinner to celebrate another successful visit to the pediatrician.

The girls in the doctor's office.

Last night I gave the girls baths and Rebecca really enjoyed herself. For the first time, she noticed the water and that she could splash and kick- pretty much make a big mess. She had a great time. I snapped a photo of her getting her hair washed. Rachel requested that I did not take her photo-" I need my privacy!" is what she told me and pulled the shower curtain closed. What a girl!

green beans

This morning Rebecca and I went to church for my Wednesday ladies' Bible study. It was another rainy day, and for some reason there were no umbrellas in my car. So we got a little wet on the way into church, but Rebecca was smiling and seemed to enjoy the rain. After my study, I went to pick her up from the nursery and found a grumpy and crying little girl. Rebecca had her six month checkup yesterday with two shots. I think it all made her a little stressed out today.
I am so grateful for the wonderful ladies in the nursery. They do an awesome job of taking care of the babies while all the moms are in the studies. And usually Rebecca is smiling, happy, and excited to have other kids around.

We headed home for lunch and a nap. Last night I cooked up and pureed green beans for her. Rebecca had her first taste today, and did not seem too impressed. I think more beans came out then went in, but we will try again tomorrow!
