Memorial Day Weekend 2015

We are on the first week of summer vacation and it is wonderful !! The girls have been sleeping in and we have been trying to just take it easy.  We had a nice Memorial Day weekend-- did most of the same things we do each year.

Saturday was sunny and Rebecca wanted to play in the sprinkler,
and Rachel went to two parties that afternoon.
Sunday we went to church and then took the girls to see the movie
Tomorrowland.

Memorial Day I met up with my friend Mary and we ran the
5k race that our town has each year. I found my family and we
watched the Memorial Day parade.
This guy in his recliner 'float" made us laugh.
We went home for lunch and then took the girls to Stone Mountain for awhile.
Rachel and Raphael did the Sky Hike and I took Rebecca to
the kids section.
Rebecca tried her rock climbing skills.
The girls played in the big barn and we watched a 3D movie. By then
it  was raining pretty hard, so we headed home for the day.
It was a good weekend and looking forward to our summer!!

All I Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten

Getting on the bus for the last time this school year!!

Rebecca finished up her kindergarten year on Thursday. She loved
going to school and riding the bus each day. Rebecca made a lot of friends
this school year and she is excited for first grade.
Rebecca and her teacher Mrs. Latella

They had a class party to celebrate the end of the school year.
They had snack and then went outside for bubbles and sidewalk chalk.

Rebecca, Sienna and Brianna--these three are always together :)

Another exciting moment for Rebecca this week-- AWANA awards.
Rebecca worked very hard this school year and finished her AWANA handbook.
She was invited to the awards ceremony and got to on stage to receive her
ribbon for finishing her book.
Getting her ribbon from her teacher, Ms. Peggy.
Rebecca was in "Sparks" this year, and had to memorize 50
Bible verses  to complete her handbook.
Over the years, Rebecca has sat through many ceremonies and watched
Rachel get AWANA awards. She was thrilled that it was finally her turn
to have her name called and get a ribbon of her own.
Rachel also finished her book and got a fancy new award.
Proud of these two girls !!

Glad to be a Grad

This week Rachel, finished her days in elementary school. And I can't
quite believe it. The time has gone by way too fast. The saying is right--
"the days maybe long, but the years are short".
Rachel and Mrs. Anderson in Kindergarten!!

Tuesday all the 5th graders had a big good-bye
party in the morning and then in the afternoon they "walked the halls".
All the students, teachers, staff and parents line the halls of the school and the
5th graders walk through and say good-bye.
Rachel and her friend Gabby.

Wednesday morning the fifth grade class had their graduation ceremony.
They filed in, the principal and vice principal both spoke for a minute. They
had a magician put on a show and give a little motivational speech.
All the students went on stage to sing a couple of songs. Rachel had been
chosen to play an instrument - the xylophone :)  Of course, she ended up
sitting right behind the podium, so not the best picture.
Receiving her certificate and a graduation medal.
Rachel and some of her classmates.
Excited to be finished with elementary school!
I went to school to see Rebecca at her class party and from there we
all went out to lunch at Macaroni Grill to celebrate.
It was a big day for Rachel. She has done so well in grade school and
we are proud of her. She is growing up quickly and is looking forward to
going to middle school next year.

The 5th grade class president spoke at graduation and shared this verse:
" Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set
an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."
1 Timothy 4:12

Coach Mims and Rebecca.
We had a lot of rain outs and reschedules in soccer this spring, but
soccer is finally finished. Rebecca loves her trophy and her team was great.
Loved going to my MOMS Club Mother's Day Luncheon.
Mother's Day Sunday with my girls.
We went to church and then out to lunch with friends.

Field Day 2015--First and Last

We had a super crazy, busy week. It is the second to last week of school and there are so many different events and activities going on, plus sports and church stuff too. Anyways, both the girls had field trips and field day this week.........
                                                              Rebecca and her friend Brianna
Rebecca's field day was on Monday and she was beyond excited. She has been going to see Rachel do field day for years, and it was finally Rebecca's turn.
They played lots of water games, which the kids loved. Rebecca was soaking wet.
It was sunny and hot, so the kids were happy to play in the water.
